At the end of the last century this was primarily a neighbourhood for the students who studied at Blasco Ibañez, which brought together many different cultures. This dynamic neighbourhood is cheap compared to the other neighbourhoods. The many restaurants, bars and terraces are very affordable here.

Gran Vía

Characterized by the great age-old ficus tree, this neighbourhood is the most posh neighbourhood in Valencia. Although the name suggests otherwise, this neighbourhood is just outside the city centre, making it a little quieter. Despite its location, there are plenty of nice restaurants, bars and shops in this area. The neighbourhood is also easily accessible by bicycle because it is located on Jardín del Turia.

Ciutat Vella (old town center)

Of course you cannot miss this spot. Here you will find everything that Valencia has to offer. Located next to Jardín del Turia is the place where you will find the famous narrow streets with all kinds of trendy shops. The places that you absolutely should not miss are Plaza de la Virgin and Plaza de la Reina. These two squares are connected by the Cathedral. But also plaza del ayuntamiento cannot be missed. This is the town hall square where the old post office is also located. In this neighbourhood you can stroll for days and still discover something new every time. A English spoken tour will help you with that. Also read our blog ¨cycling in Valencia¨.

Fallas in the city

Every year in March the city is turned upside down! The Fallas are organized then. The origin goes back to the carpenters who celebrated the arrival of spring with bonfires. Over the years this has grown into a festivity that is even on the UNESCO heritage list. During Fallas, hundreds of statues made of wood and polystyrene are placed in the city. These are real works of art in themselves, which often also have a critical political expression. At the end of the festivities, which are accompanied by street parties, music, dance and drinks, all Fallas are burned, heralding the arrival of spring. One of the Fallas is saved from the pyre every year and is given a place in the Fallas museum. This event is a real must-see.
