Our Favourite Local Spots

What’s better than relaxing on a sunny terrace during your holiday in Moraira? A morning coffee, a chilled glass of wine overlooking the Mediterranean or a few tapas with friends at the end of the afternoon. Moraira has plenty of lovely outdoor terraces, but each has its own atmosphere. Having lived and worked in this beautiful part of the Costa Blanca for many years, we’d love to share five of our favourite places. From relaxed seaside bars to welcoming spots in the town centre, there’s something for every occasion.

1. Bar La Cabana by MESA | Relaxed Drinks with Sea Views

Looking for a beautiful terrace right beside the Mediterranean? Bar La Cabana by MESA is a lovely place to visit. You’ll find this stylish bar along the coastal road between Moraira and Calpe, close to Cala l’Andragó. The terrace offers wonderful views across the rocky coastline and the clear blue sea. With its modern Mediterranean design and relaxed beach-club atmosphere, La Cabana is an excellent choice for afternoon drinks, cocktails or a few delicious small dishes. It’s particularly pleasant when you have plenty of time to sit back and enjoy the surroundings.
Our tip: choose a table overlooking the sea if one is available. The combination of the coastal views and relaxed atmosphere makes this place special.
📍Carretera Moraira-Calpe 121 | Moraira

2. Beach Bar Algas | A Holiday Atmosphere by the Sea

Just a short distance from La Cabana, you’ll find Beach Bar Algas, another lovely spot overlooking the Mediterranean. With palm trees, beautiful sea views and an informal atmosphere, it’s easy to feel that you’re truly on holiday here. Algas is a great place for a refreshing drink after a coastal walk or a relaxed afternoon with friends. During the summer, the atmosphere can become livelier, sometimes with music adding to the holiday feeling. You can also stop for a casual bite to eat.
Our tip: combine a visit with a walk around Cala l’Andragó. The coastal scenery is particularly beautiful in the morning and later in the afternoon.

3. Xambel | A Lively Terrace in the Heart of Moraira

Some terraces are all about the sea views. Others are perfect for sitting back and watching the world go by. Xambel definitely belongs in the second category. Located at Plaza de la Sort, close to Moraira’s seafront and town centre, this is a lovely spot for soaking up the local atmosphere. Following a refurbishment, Xambel has a fresh, contemporary feel. It’s a pleasant place to enjoy a coffee, a drink or a few tapas while watching the daily bustle of Moraira. And that’s exactly what makes it so enjoyable.
Our tip: choose Xambel if you like lively surroundings and a central location. It’s a great place to take a break while exploring the town.
📍Plaza de la Sort 1 | Moraira

4. La Taverna del 42 | Spanish Wine, Vermouth and Tapas

Prefer a more traditional Spanish atmosphere? Then La Taverna del 42, on Calle las Viñas in the centre of Moraira, is well worth a visit. This friendly tapas and wine bar is a lovely place for an aperitif, a glass of Spanish wine or a vermouth with a few small dishes. The menu includes tapas, cheeses and Spanish cured meats. What we particularly enjoy about places like this is that there’s no need to plan a full meal. Sometimes a drink and a couple of tasty bites are all you need.
Our tip: try a traditional Spanish vermouth with a few tapas. It’s a wonderful way to start a leisurely afternoon.
📍Calle las Viñas 6 | Moraira

5. Bites & Bubbels | Delicious Small Plates and a Relaxed Atmosphere

In the centre of Moraira, on Paseo Senillar, you’ll find Bites & Bubbels. This welcoming restaurant has a lovely terrace and a menu that offers something a little different from a traditional Spanish tapas bar. You can visit for breakfast or lunch, or enjoy a selection of small dishes to share. The kitchen combines Spanish tapas with international flavours, making it a great choice if you fancy trying something different. It’s also a pleasant place for a glass of cava, wine or a relaxed afternoon drink.
Our tip: order several different small dishes and share them. It’s a lovely way to sample more of the menu.
