Horse riding on the beach near Oliva

For a completely different experience, head north to Centro Hípico Oliva Nova. The centre organises guided rides along Oliva Nova beach as well as trails through the Marjal de Pego-Oliva Natural Park. Beach rides take place on a quieter stretch of coastline and are accompanied by a professional guide. Horses and routes are selected according to the rider's level, although some previous riding experience may be recommended for particular beach rides. The natural park rides offer a very different landscape, with wetlands, freshwater areas, birdlife and Mediterranean vegetation.
Our tip: it is further from Moraira than the Benissa and Jávea options, but if your dream is to ride a horse along the beach, this is the most interesting option on our list.

Can beginners go horse riding?

Yes. Several riding centres offer activities suitable for beginners. Paradise Stables specifically offers beginner-friendly rides and lessons, while Centro Hípico Oliva Nova provides lessons from introductory level upwards. When booking, always be honest about:

  • your riding experience
  • the ages of children
  • your height and weight
  • whether you are comfortable only at walk or also at trot and canter

This allows the riding centre to select an appropriate horse and activity.

Horse riding with children

There are several options for children. Paradise Stables organises children’s experiences, lessons and seasonal summer camps, while Montgó Vall has its own Pony Club. Centro Hípico Oliva Nova also offers riding lessons for children. Minimum ages depend on the activity and centre, so always check when booking.

What should you wear?

For a recreational trail ride, you normally do not need professional riding clothes. We recommend:

  • long trousers
  • closed shoes
  • no flip-flops or sandals
  • sun protection
  • an early morning or evening ride in midsummer

Paradise Stables requires closed footwear and provides riding helmets.

Our tip

If you want to stay close to Moraira, start with the two options in Benissa. For beginners and families, Paradise Stables stands out because of its clear focus on recreational holiday experiences. If you already ride and prefer a more traditional equestrian centre with lessons, dressage and trail riding, Club Hípic Benissa may suit you better. And if you are looking for a particularly memorable holiday experience, horse riding along the beach near Oliva is hard to beat.
