Visit caves in Moraira

The coastline of the Costa Blanca is characterized by long stretches of beaches and meter-high cliffs. Moraira and its surroundings are known for the latter. Here you can see beautiful high cliffs from the sea that become completely golden in the morning or evening sun. In those high cliffs are several caves that can sometimes be reached on foot and sometimes only by water.

Cova dels Peixes | Cueva de los peces (Fish Cave)

One of the hidden gems of the Marina Alta on the Costa Blanca are the turquoise blue waters at this fish cave.

As kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding become more and more popular, this spectacular cave is becoming more and more popular. In the past, it was mainly the inhabitants of the various fishing villages who knew about this hidden gem. Because the fresh river water mixes with the salty sea water in this cave, the water has a beautiful deep color. The underwater life in this cave is therefore fantastic to see.

This cave can only be reached by water. The nearest beach is Cala del Moraig in Benitatxell. From here you can easily paddle and kayak along the high cliffs to the cave. Don't forget the goggles! The underwater life is beautiful to see.

Cova del Arcs | Cueva de los Arcos

These beautiful rock arches are located in the Cumbre del Sol right next to Cala del Moraig. Most of the path is paved. Only the last part to the rock arches is unpaved. The vistas of this cave are really beautiful to see. And if you are at Cala del Moraig, you might as well take Falla del Moraig. This is not a cave, but a beautiful rock formation with fantastic sea views.

Cova de la Cendra

This cave is quite easy to reach. The path that leads to Torre del Cap d'Or is for a large part also the pass to Cova de la Cendra. There is a fork in the middle of the path. Left to the cave and right to the tower of Moraira.

Hidden gem in Javea

There is also a hidden gem in Javea that is being discovered more and more due to the popularity of stand-up paddle and kayaking. Cala en Caló is hardly visible from the mainland because the bay is hidden behind a mountain. This bay separates Granadella beach from Ambolo bay and can only be reached by water. In the summer months you will find all kinds of water sports enthusiasts who enjoy the special “secret” bay.
