Anyone who regularly visits Moraira will probably recognise the name Pepe la Sal. It is a local family business with a long history in the area and remains one of the best-known supermarkets around Moraira. For us, Pepe la Sal is still one of the most convenient places for both everyday groceries and a larger weekly shop. You will find extensive fresh fruit and vegetable, meat, fish, cheese, bakery and wine sections, together with a wide selection of international products. Three branches are particularly relevant for our guests:

Mercadona

Mercadona is one of Spain’s largest supermarket chains and extremely popular with Spanish shoppers. From Moravit, Andragó and parts of Cap Blanc, it can be more convenient than driving to Pepe la Sal Central.

Lidl and Aldi

You will also find Lidl and Aldi on the Teulada side of Moraira. Both are particularly convenient if you are staying in Benimeit or travelling between Moraira and Teulada. The concept will be familiar to many European visitors, although the product range is naturally adapted to the Spanish market.

Supercor Exprés in Moraira

For a few forgotten groceries, Supercor Exprés near the centre of Moraira is particularly convenient. It would not be our first choice for a full weekly shop, but it is ideal for bread, drinks, wine or that one ingredient you suddenly realise you have forgotten. One of its main advantages is its very long opening hours.

Overseas supermarkets

I started this text with the Iceland and Waitrose and would come back to that. Overseas supermarkets are located in the center of Moraira. This supermarket sells mainly English products. Many of these products are from Iceland and Waitrose. This supermarket is very popular with the English who live here permanently or spend the winter. Every week there is a truck with new cargo for this supermarket. If you cannot miss the typical English products from the Netherlands, this is your supermarket!

For your first big grocery shop after arriving, Pepe la Sal Central remains our personal favourite. Parking is easy, the selection is extensive and you can find almost everything you need for a holiday.
