Holiday in Moraira

Discover the Best of the Costa Blanca

Why Moraira is such a wonderful holiday destination. Breakfast on your own sunny terrace, a refreshing dip in the swimming pool and a relaxed dinner in a charming Mediterranean town. That’s what a holiday in Moraira can look like. Located on Spain’s northern Costa Blanca, between Calpe and Jávea, Moraira is a former fishing village that has developed into a much-loved holiday destination while retaining much of its traditional charm. We have lived and worked in Moraira for many years, and we understand why so many visitors return year after year. Beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants, peaceful residential areas and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere make Moraira a special place to spend your holiday. But what makes this little corner of the Costa Blanca so appealing? Let us show you around!

Why choose Moraira for your holiday?

Moraira offers something that can be difficult to find in larger Spanish coastal resorts: a lively holiday atmosphere without the feeling of a big tourist destination. The town centre is home to independent shops, welcoming restaurants, sunny terraces and an attractive marina. In the surrounding hills, you’ll find beautiful residential areas with private villas, swimming pools and, in many cases, lovely Mediterranean views. What we personally enjoy most is the variety. You can spend your morning exploring the coastline, enjoy a long Spanish lunch and finish the day with a drink overlooking the sea. Or simply spend the entire afternoon beside your private pool. After all, you’re on holiday!

Beaches and coves | Discover Moraira’s beautiful coastline

No holiday on the Costa Blanca would be complete without spending some time beside the Mediterranean. Moraira has several lovely beaches and coves, each with its own character.

Playa de l’Ampolla is located directly beside the town centre. With its sandy beach, convenient facilities and nearby restaurants, it’s a popular choice for families.

El Portet is perhaps Moraira’s most picturesque bay. Its sheltered position, clear water and beautiful surroundings make it one of our favourite places to visit.

For snorkelling and smaller rocky coves, we recommend exploring L’Andragó and the coastline towards Benissa Costa.
Our local tip: Visit El Portet early in the morning during July and August. Parking is easier and the bay is often at its most peaceful.

Although Moraira is a relatively small coastal town, there are plenty of things to see and do. Enjoy a coastal walk, play a round of golf, try tennis or padel, or discover the Mediterranean by paddleboard, kayak or boat. Prefer something less active? Explore the town centre, visit the weekly Friday market or enjoy a leisurely coffee near the marina. Moraira is also an excellent base for exploring other beautiful places along the Costa Blanca, including Calpe, Jávea, Dénia and Altea. One of the great pleasures of spending a holiday in Moraira is the food. For a relatively small town, Moraira has an impressive selection of restaurants. From traditional Spanish tapas and freshly prepared fish to contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and international favourites, there’s something for almost everyone. We particularly enjoy the Spanish tradition of a leisurely lunch. Find a sunny terrace, order a few dishes to share and forget about the time. In the evening, Moraira has a lovely atmosphere.
